Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures
Whenever I am in Central Florida…
One of my favorite places to photograph is Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures on Lake Tohopekaliga, in Central Florida. It’s owned by great people and they employ my good friend and favorite guide in all of Florida, Captain John Ruggeri.
Besides the always present American Alligator, one of my favorite things to photograph is the elusive and rare Snail Kite. These great raptors mainly feed on the large invasive Apple Snails. But they can also be seen eating just about anything in the lake including turtles. (Bottom left image: Captain John and I out on the lake).
What makes John such a great Airboat Captain is that he is also a photographer. John will maneuver the airboat for me to get the best possible image taking into consideration, the main subject, lighting and even background. See John at https://www.instagram.com/airboatphotographer/.
I always take time to walk the property when I visit Boggy Creek. I have seen Barred Owls there several times.
